From the Pastor:
Baptized in Christ:
We welcome into our parish Bryce Robert, son of Ryan Holthaus and Amanda
Schaefer, who was baptized here at St. James this past Sunday, April 13, 2008.
On behalf of St. James Parish, we want to
congratulate our two newly confirmands, Louis Schaefer and Brianne Dingmann,
who received the sacrament of Confirmation this past Tuesday evening at St.
Boniface Parish in Cold Spring from Bishop Sowada. May they continue to grow in their faith and their love for
Jesus.
In the gospel this weekend, we hear Jesus saying “I
am the way and the truth and the life.”
It is a challenge that each one of us faces, whether or not we will
choose to follow Jesus, in the good times of life, and also the difficult times
in our lives. Jesus is a gentleman; he
does not force anyone to follow Him. He
simply invites us to. We have a free
will to choose whether or not we will accept his invitation to follow Him with
our whole mind, heart and soul.
The National Collection for Catholic Home Missions
Appeal will be taken next weekend, April 26/27, 2008.
The Knights of Columbus Annual Tootsie Roll Drive for
the developmentally disabled citizens will be held next weekend, April 26th
and 27th outside local churches and at other locations.
Father Julius
Religious Education: Next
class will meet April 23. Practice for
First Communion Mass is April 23rd.
All 9th and 10th graders are required to
participate in the First communion Mass on April 27th.
German Fest: Work Sign up sheets are
located in the back of church.
Chairpeople should sign up on their activity for the shifts they will be
present for. We will need a minimum of
114 persons signed up for this event to run smoothly. Together we will have
another successful year. Posters will be available next week.
Donations for the Silent auction can
be made to Ann Jonas (685-4158 or ajonas@csbsju.edu).
Quilt pictures are available to look
at in the back of church and on the website.
Dear Parishioners,
St. James Parish is a community of
loving, caring and giving people. In the past few years our parish has grown.
Unfortunately, not everyone has had the opportunity to meet our new
parishioners that have joined our parish in the time that Fr. Julius has been
pastor of St. James. To remedy this, we are planning a Welcoming Sunday for
every parishioner of St. James to come and visit with the newer parishioners.
This event will take place on Sunday,
May 4, 2008, at 10:00 am (after Mass) in the church basement. A lunch of Sloppy Joes, chips, baked beans,
bars, and juice/coffee will be served. In order to have enough food on hand, we
will need you to RSVP if you are coming to this wonderful event. Please RSVP to
Rose Mueller at 685-8982 by Thursday, May 1, 2008. We hope to see you all
there! Any questions, call Rose.
