From the
Pastor: On behalf of St. James Parish, we extend our
sympathies to the family of Isaac Willenbring, infant son of Jim and Janet
Willenbring whose funeral Mass took place here on this past Tuesday. St. Isaac pray for us.
This Sunday we are celebrating the Feast of the
Trans-figuration. Every second Sunday
of Lent, this is the gospel that is read for all to hear. Jesus takes Peter, James and John up the
mountain to be transfigured before them.
Jesus had just recently revealed to them that he must first suffer and
die before he would rise from the dead.
Not words the apostles wanted to hear.
So Jesus, in his compassion, gives them a sneak preview of His glorified
state. At the end of time, as St. Paul
writes in his letter to the Philippians:
“Our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the
Lord Jesus Christ. He will change our
lowly body to conform with his glorified body.”
