A year's worth of basic medicines for an HIV/AIDS patient cost about $350 (for many people who live on less than $1 a day)
8,500 people die every day from AIDS
4.8 million new people were infected with AIDS in 2003 globally.
According to the U.N. AIDS organization, more than 13 million children have lost at least one parent to AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.
The numbers of people affected and devastated by the those infected with the virus are countless.
What you can do:
Education is KEY! Make sure that you are knowledgable about the global reality and affects of HIV/AIDS.
Write, call, fax, or email your government politicians to ask them to strongly support funding (a strong commitment to fulfill current funding promises and to even increase funding) to fight AIDS in Africa.
