KC Park Sign

In 1992, KC District #19 adopted a park in the City of Saint Cloud. The name changed from Sauk River Park to Knights of Columbus Park. In cooperation with the city, the Knights have repainted the shelter and installed new grills, swings, and play equipment. Knights also coordinate a biannual park cleaning. The park is also home to an annual carnival for kids.

As of 1998, KC Park was one of only four parks in the city with a shelter. It is designed to hold events of up to 50 people. Reservations can be made by calling the Saint Cloud Park and Recreation Department at 320-255-7257.

The park is located at 715 54th Street North in Saint Cloud, near Municipal Athletic Complex. It is just south of the intersection of 8th Street and 54th Avenue North. Please, give it a visit. It is a wonderful park in a nice natural setting along the Sauk River.

During the floods of 1997, the park was one of the first area landmarks to go underwater. In the picture below, the grassy area on the right is out of the water because the shelter and parking lot were raised to prevent damage from the numerous floods that affect this park. This picture is courtesy of Bret Allie of the Earth Science department at Saint Cloud State University.

In addition to nature and recreation, this park represents history! In the mid-19th century, the Red River Trail connected Winnipeg (Manitoba) and Saint Paul (Minnesota). Trains of up to 200 ox carts would travel this trail. As entering Saint Cloud, the trains crossed the Sauk River at Waite's Crossing (now KC Park).
