Respect Life ministries include a variety of materials
to support
the pro-life message. Listed below are just a few.
-We invite anyone who is concerned about abortion to
consider implementing a Spiritual Adoption Program in
their parish and/or school community. Participants in the Spiritual
Adoption
Program pledge to pray for nine months for a baby in danger of abortion.
The purpose of the Spiritual Adoption Program is to promote prayer
for babies in danger of abortion and their parents, and to educate
people about the development of the unborn child over the nine-month
period before birth. Some parishes and schools have also held a baby
shower/birthday party at the conclusion of the program to provide assistance
to mothers in need through donated baby gifts.
A Spiritual Adoption Program manual is available for
$10 from the Office of Marriage & Family. Please contact the Office
at (320) 252-4721 to purchase this manual, or if you have any questions.
-NEW: For post abortion counseling,
Project Rachel is now coordinated
through Catholic Charities. Please contact them at 320-529-0427.
See the announcement in
the November 14, 2008 issue of their newsletter called Partners
in Caring.
-The life issues are becoming more and more complex and
an hour long PowerPoint presentation has been developed for high school
and adult groups to aid in their understanding of fetal development,
abortion (including RU-486 and partial birth abortion), embryonic stem
cell research, cloning and in vitro fertilization. To schedule a speaker
call the Office of Marriage & Family.
-The Office of Marriage & Family offers, through
its annual Diocesan Appeal Fund, grants to crisis pregnancy centers
and
those involved in pro-life activities. Grant applications are submitted
by June 1 on an annual basis with disbursements by September 1. For
a grant application, contact the Office of Marriage & Family.
