IntroductionThis is where you can force specific items to appear within people's Docks. No matter how hard they try, these items cannot be removed from the Dock. In addition to the items you list here, the computer by default will insert more programs into the Dock. This is usually undesirable. Therefore, a workaround has been developed. Hopefully we'll document that workaround at some point in the future. How to the Dock's ContentsThis is a fairly simple interface (though larger scrolling windows would be nice). As you may recall, the Dock is divided into two categores. Applications go on the LEFT half and other items (documents, server volumes, Trash) go on the RIGHT half. When managing the Dock via this interface, the FIRST list represents the applications and the SECOND list represents the other items. Besides defining what appears in people's Docks. This also defines the order in which those items should appear. To add anything to the Dock, simply drag it from the Finder and into the appropriate list. (You can use the manual 'Add' buttons.) By default, the Dock includes an item titled, "http://www.apple.com/macosx". This is Mac OS X advertising and I always remove it. One great item to add to the Dock in the person's 'Documents' folder. To do this, simply check the box labeled 'Documents'.
